A fine art exhibition “The Tension Between Realism and Abstraction” by artist Ian Torney will be hosted by the White Mountain Museum & Gallery in North Conway August 15-17. Ian has been a New Hampshire resident for over three decades, who settled in Jackson 10 years ago and where he enjoys a magnificent view of his muse - Mt. Washington - from his home studio. The Hudson River School & White Mountain School painters have been inspired by the valley’s bold landscapes since the early 1800’s. Ian Torney continues in the footsteps of those artists with contemporary impasto technique. At his studio in Jackson, he captures the ever-changing atmosphere and light in his mountain landscapes in bold, abstract bursts of color.
